About the hotel

Hotel Dalgas opened its doors to its guests in 1962 and thus has strong and rich traditions behind it, which we continue to build on.

The hotel's development is also a result of the heath's wild cultural and natural development. The heath is our home and we look forward to sharing our stories and unique nature with you.

Your home on the moor
It is our goal that you feel comfortable already when you enter our reception, which in a greenhouse has green plants to ensure a good atmosphere, air and energy. Here you will be welcomed by a staff who make an effort to make you feel that you have come to the right place. Hotel Dalgas is your home on the heath in central Jutland - regardless of whether you are here in private or business interests.

Brandeor Brande
The hotel's history also presents a painful bump in the road. In 1983, the hotel was ravaged by a major fire, and between the sad ruins stood the married couple Marianne and Arne Andersen, who had only run the hotel for two years. It was difficult to see the future dreams and visions through the smoke from the hot ashes. Perhaps it was even best to just let the hotel's story end there? With help and support from Brande-architect Kristian Kristiansen, the couple fortunately came up with better ideas and succeeded in rebuilding the hotel.

A greener future
Arne and Marianne Andersen got Hotel Dalgas on the map, and they ran the hotel successfully until 2020, when Hotel Dalgas was taken over by Axel Månsson. Månsson is one of the country's largest and most innovative producers of organic vegetables and organic eggs. This background has a great influence on the hotel and on Restaurant Urfuglen's further narrative, where the visions of a greener and more sustainable future shape everyday life.

The hotel's reception, kitchen, restaurant, toilets and a large number of rooms have already undergone an extensive renovation, and thus Hotel Dalgas will continue to be transformed based on the area's rich natural and cultural history.

Hotel Dalgas is named after one of the most visionary and enterprising personalities of the time, Enrico Dalgas, director of the Danish Heath Society. Dalgas was a pioneer in the cultivation of the wild heathland and the planting of the many hedgerows that are still seen in the landscape. This was of great benefit to both farmers and not least to biodiversity. Månsson's organic products are grown today in the heathland that Dalgas laid out more than 150 years ago.
